The Giant

The Primis crew return to the Group 935 teleporter facility — a faithful Der Riese remake with BO3 movement. No boss quest, but link the three teleporters for Pack-a-Punch, and earn the Annihilator from the Fly Trap.

Quick answers

How do you complete the The Giant Easter egg?

The run breaks down like this:
  1. Turn on power at the central courtyard generator
  2. Activate Teleporter Z-A (kennels) and link it at the Mainframe within ~30s
  3. Activate Teleporter Z-B (boiler/vat room) and link it
  4. Activate Teleporter Z-C (catwalk behind power) and link it — Pack-a-Punch opens in spawn
  5. Each link also drops a random power-up
  6. Hidden song “Beauty of Annihilation”: activate the 3 glowing brain jars
  7. Fly Trap: PaP a gun, shoot the distant panel past Teleporter Z-A, shoot the 3 toys (cymbal monkey + 2 teddy bears), grab the Annihilator
Each stage is written out in full — with the exact locations, the order things must be done in and what to do when a step refuses to trigger — in the walkthrough below.

Is there a song Easter egg on The Giant?

Yes — “Beauty of Annihilation”. Kevin Sherwood ft. Elena Siegman. Hold Use on the 3 glowing brain/spine jars around the Animal Testing Lab and the Teleporter Z-B room. Once per match. Full trigger steps for it are in the side Easter eggs section.

How many side Easter eggs are on The Giant?

7 are documented here — song, free weapon, free perk, collectible and mechanic. Each one has its own steps rather than a one-line mention, so they can be followed mid-game.

When was The Giant released?

6 Nov 2015.

What to do

Linking is timed. Hold Use on a teleporter pad to start a ~30-second countdown, then sprint back to the Mainframe pad in spawn and hold to complete the link. Order doesn't matter, and every successful link drops a power-up — do them with your training spot clear.

Before you start

What to have in hand before step 1 — from the loadout notes, from the walkthrough itself, and from the map's own quest documentation where the gate is never stated in a step.

Know before you load in
  • This is a faithful Der Riese remake with Black Ops 3 movement — the same three-teleporter power/Pack-a-Punch chain, but the Fly Trap side Easter egg (here renamed Paradoxical Prologue) now actually pays out, instead of ending in dialogue only.
  • No main quest and no boss fight. Power on, then link the three teleporters for Pack-a-Punch is the only required chain; everything else is optional side content.
  • Jugger-Nog first once points allow — the map still funnels you deep into the factory early.
  • Save a Pack-a-Punched bullet weapon (any type) for the Fly Trap trigger panel before you commit to it.
  • The Electroshock Defense trap in the courtyard is the only well-documented high-round hold tool on this map.

The quest in the order this guide runs it — tap any step to jump to it, and it fills in as you tick steps off.

1
Central courtyard generator

Power on

+

Turn on power first. Nothing else — teleporters, mainframe link, traps — works until it is live.

2
Teleporter Z-A (kennels), Z-B (boiler/vat room), Z-C (catwalk behind power)

Link the three teleporters

+

Hold Use on a pad to start a roughly 30-second countdown, then get back to the Mainframe pad in spawn and hold Use again before it expires. Order does not matter. Every successful link also drops a random power-up, so clear your training spot before you commit to one.

Quick win: Three free power-up drops, one per link, just for doing the thing you need to do anyway.

Confirmation cue: The Mainframe door lowers a stage with each completed link.

3
Spawn, at the Mainframe

Pack-a-Punch opens

+

After the third link the Mainframe door is fully open and the Pack-a-Punch shutters at spawn open with it.

Confirmation cue: The door to Pack-a-Punch is open once all three are linked.

4
Two jars in the Animal Testing Lab, one in the Teleporter Z-B side room

Beauty of Annihilation

+

Hold Use on all three glowing green brain/spine jars, in any order: on top of a shelf in the lab, just behind it on a cupboard, and on a desk through the boiler/vat room into the Z-B side room. The Kevin Sherwood ft. Elena Siegman remix plays once, map-wide, when all three register.

Confirmation cue: The Beauty of Annihilation (Giant remix) track starts playing, once per game.

5
The control panel down the alley right of the Mainframe, past Teleporter Z-A; three toys; the furnace below Z-B

Fly Trap → the Annihilator (Paradoxical Prologue)

+

Pack-a-Punch a bullet weapon first, then shoot the control panel on the stone pillars at the far stone circle past Z-A. This activates three toys — shoot all of them: the cymbal monkey in the furnace by Z-A, the teddy bear on the fire escape left of the power switch, and the teddy bear in the water vat beside Z-B. Then collect the floating Annihilator revolver from inside the furnace flames below Z-B.

Quick win: This also drops a green Gateworm collectible (needed later for the Revelations Easter egg) plus 1,000 XP — worth doing even on a run you don't intend to push.

Confirmation cue: The Annihilator is visibly floating in the furnace fire once all three toys are shot.

Version: On the 2008 Der Riese original this same Fly Trap sequence ends in Samantha's dialogue and the achievement only — no item. Here, with Ludvig Maxis voicing it instead of Samantha (the quest is renamed Paradoxical Prologue), it awards a real weapon and the Gateworm.

6
All three teleporter pads, then the panel beside Pack-a-Punch

Hidden sixth perk (the Monkey Bomb ritual)

+

With every teleporter linked, throw a Cymbal Monkey (from the Mystery Box) onto a pad and activate that teleporter while the monkey is still live on it, then get back to the Mainframe. Repeat for all three pads. Each successful trip lights one of three indicators on a panel by the Mainframe from red to green. Once all three are green, interact with the red button on that panel: the Giant Robot's eye beam fires outside the map, bounces off the Der Riese welcome sign and melts a snow pile, revealing either a Stamin-Up or a Deadshot Daiquiri machine.

Quick win: A free bonus perk machine, on top of the ones already on the map — worth the three Monkey Bomb trips.

Confirmation cue: The indicator light on the mainframe panel turns green after each successful monkey-teleport.

7
Scattered through spawn, the teleporter rooms and the labs

Story archive: ciphers, scrap paper, radios and phones

+

Radios and telephones scattered around the map play Group 935 / Der Riese story recordings — independent lore cues, not a sequential quest, so any order works. Separately, the map hides ciphers and torn scrap-paper pieces; five decoded cipher texts are reported to exist on this map (callofdutyzombies.com): The mountain must be searched for the frozen one; In the cell below the waves is where honor suffers; A city of fire surrounds the warrior, the last of his kind; When finished we will return to the house and the infinite; and a Living Dead cipher shared with Der Riese. Their exact spots are not published.

Quick win: All of this is free lore collected in passing — no combat or timing requirement attached to any of it.

8
The Electroshock Defense trap in the power courtyard; any perk machine

High-round hold: the Electroshock trap and the Annihilator's limits

+

The Electroshock Defense trap in the courtyard is the strongest documented high-round hold on this map — it needs points to activate and a cooldown between fires. Treat the Annihilator as a very strong opener rather than a long-term crutch: it one-shots early but tapers off by around round 20.

Quick win: Lie prone in front of any perk machine for a small free points bonus — about 100 points per machine here, once per machine, per match (reported by codzombieguides.com).

  5. 'Beauty of Annihilation' (Giant remix) by Kevin Sherwood & Elena Siegman plays — once per game
Free weapon

Fly Trap — the Annihilator

+

Pack-a-Punch a bullet weapon and, from outside Teleporter Z-A, shoot the distant control panel. Three toys then activate — shoot the cymbal monkey in the furnace by Teleporter Z-A, the teddy bear high on the balcony right of the power courtyard, and the teddy bear in the water vat beside Teleporter Z-B. Collect the Annihilator from the glowing furnace below Z-B. Also awards a green Gateworm (a collectible needed later for Revelations).

  1. Pack-a-Punch any weapon first (a long-range gun helps)
  2. Shoot the control panel on the stone pillars at the large stone circle down the alley right of the Mainframe
  3. Shoot the 3 hidden toys: the cymbal monkey in the furnace by Teleporter Z-A (left of the right-most stairs), the teddy bear on the fire escape left of the power switch near the top, and the teddy bear in the left water tank/vat beside Teleporter Z-B
  4. Collect the floating Annihilator revolver from inside the furnace flames
  5. Rewards the Annihilator, 1,000 XP and a green Gateworm collectible for the Revelations Easter egg
Free perk

Hidden sixth perk (Monkey-Bomb teleport)

+

With all three teleporters linked, at each pad throw a Cymbal Monkey onto it and activate the teleport while it is live — each successful trip lights one green indicator at the Mainframe. When all three are green, press the red button beside Pack-a-Punch: the laser fires, reflects off the Der Riese sign and melts a snow pile to reveal a bonus perk machine — either Deadshot Daiquiri or Stamin-Up.

Collectible

Radios & phones

+

Scattered radios and telephones play Group 935 / Der Riese story recordings — independent lore cues, not a sequential quest.

Mechanic

Worth knowing

+

The Electroshock Defense trap in the courtyard is a strong high-round hold; the Annihilator one-shots early but tapers after ~round 20; lie prone at a perk machine for a small points bonus.

Collectible

Ciphers and scrap paper

+

Five decoded cipher texts are reported for this map (The Frozen One, Honor Suffering, A City of Fire, The House, Living Dead) — their in-map locations are not published, so hunt the torn paper as you find it.

Mechanic

Prone at a perk machine

+

Lie prone in front of any perk machine for roughly 100 free points, once per machine per match (reported by codzombieguides.com).

Common The Giant questions

Direct answers to the specific things players look up mid-game — part locations, puzzle steps and more.

How do I open Pack-a-Punch on The Giant?

Turn on the power at the central courtyard generator, then link all three teleporters. Hold Use on a pad to start a roughly 30-second countdown, sprint back to the Mainframe pad in spawn and hold to complete the link. Order does not matter, and every successful link drops a random power-up — so do them with your training spot clear.

How do I get the Annihilator?

Pack-a-Punch a bullet weapon, then from outside Teleporter Z-A shoot the control panel on the stone pillars at the large stone circle, down the alley to the right of the Mainframe. Three toys then activate: the cymbal monkey in the furnace by Teleporter Z-A, the teddy bear on the fire escape left of the power switch near the top, and the teddy bear in the left water vat beside Teleporter Z-B. Shoot all three and collect the Annihilator from inside the furnace flames.

Is the Annihilator worth keeping?

Early on, absolutely — it one-shots. It tapers off after about round 20, so treat it as a very strong opener rather than a high-round weapon.

What is the hidden sixth perk?

With all three teleporters linked, throw a Cymbal Monkey onto each pad and teleport while it is live. Each successful trip lights one green indicator at the Mainframe. With all three green, press the red button beside Pack-a-Punch: the laser fires, reflects off the Der Riese sign and melts a snow pile to reveal a bonus perk machine — either Deadshot Daiquiri or Stamin-Up.

What is a Gateworm and why do I want one?

A collectible awarded alongside the Annihilator for completing the Fly Trap. Gateworms are needed later, on Revelations, so it is worth doing the Fly Trap even on a run you do not intend to push.

How is The Giant different from Der Riese?

It is a faithful remake with Black Ops 3 movement, but the Fly Trap now actually pays out. On the 2008 Der Riese it ends with Samantha's dialogue and no item at all; here it awards the Annihilator and a Gateworm. The hidden sixth perk and the laser snow-pile chain are Giant-only too.

Where are the three brain jars?

Two in the Animal Testing Lab — one on top of a shelf, the second just behind it on a cupboard — and one in the Teleporter Z-B room, reached through the boiler and vat room into the side room, on a desk.

What is the best high-round hold on The Giant?

The Electroshock Defence trap in the courtyard. And as on Der Riese, lying prone in front of a perk machine still gives a small one-off points bonus.
